frequently asked questions
- Q: What should I wear?
A: You should undress to the level you are comfortable with! For a full body massage, most get completely undressed.
However, if you will be more comfortable during the session if you leave your underwear on, that's fine. I will work around the clothes you left on to the best of my ability. If removing all your clothes makes you too nervous and unable to relax, then you
are not getting the optimal benefit from the session. I will give you privacy to undress and get comfortable on the table. During the massage the only area that will be uncovered is the area being worked on. It is also helpful to remove any jewelry or watches. If you'd like your face massaged it is best to not have any make up on, and for head massages it is easiest if your hair is down.
- Q: Do I need to do anything during the session?
A: Most importantly you should relax! Feel free to close your eyes and take slow, even breaths. You may talk if you'd like,
or you can stay quiet. You don't have to worry about moving a muscle when I adjust the sheet to work on a different area,
I will take care of that :) I will check in from time to time to see how the pressure is working for you. Every body is different and people have different pressure preferences. Please let me know if I'm applying too little or too much pressure, I want you to be comfortable at all times!
- Q: What if my body makes funny noises?
A: This is perfectly normal and nothing to be embarrassed about. It means that your parasympathetic nervous system is working, and that I'm doing my job! Stomach grumbles, sighing, yawning, movement of intestinal gases, falling asleep/snoring, etc. are nothing to worry about. Massage can also prompt different kinds of emotional feelings, memories, and/or energy shifts as well.
All of this is completely normal!
- Q: What if I am embarrassed about an area of my body?
A: The number one thing I strive for, is you being comfortable! In the short amount of time that I have been a massage
therapist I have seen many different bodies, all shapes, colors, sizes, and ages. I am not here to judge and want you to be fully confident that this should not be one of your concerns. Before going to school I remember going to get massages and worrying when I forgot to shave my legs, clip or paint my toenails, etc. Now I realize just how unnecessary that worrying was!
- Q: Do I need to leave a tip?
A: This is completely up to you! Tips are accepted and appreciated, but I would prefer that you're able to get a massage as
often as you'd like and not feel pressured to tip. One of the best ways you can “tip” me would be to refer your friends and family to me if you're happy with the services you received :)
